That's a really nice picture!
I like how you hint at detail, rather than making it stark.
The picture reminds me of a character called Brolga from the Silver Brumby stories I read when I was little - he was a dancing stallion. Brumbies are Australian wild horses, so it's not too far off the mark either ^_^

The dynamic pose you've chosen is unique, and I love the way your shading has a slight texture to it. The contrasts are well balanced, and I like the way you left the negative space empty. There are many who would object to the lack of background on this, but I think that any inclusion of a background would only detract the eyes at the least, or make the piece to busy at the worst. The energy of the horse holds the focus well enough that any background would be entirely superfluous anyway, and the inclusion of the little grass tufts helps to sufficiently ground the piece. Very well done.
Did you use a photo reference for this piece, or did you draw this freehand from your imagination?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I used a photo. I don't know horse anatomy so well to draw it without references
